In this historic cathedral district, on the corner of Schoemakerstraat, Doctor De Bie had this Art Deco house built for himself in 1937.

Architect Arthur Smet (son of Frans Smet-Verhas, an Art Nouveau architect) designed an expressionist façade in yellow Belvedere bricks, which were very popular at the time.

The façade from the main floor to the roof is symmetrical, centered on this pointed spur with remarkable masonry work.

The triangular gable supports two flagpoles.

The ground floor was converted in 1961 to a café, but the front door appears to be original.

Signature of the architect on the lintel of the ground floor window.

The whole is in relatively good condition.
