Architect(s) and/or artist(s)
  • Le Corbusier

The only building by architect Le Corbusier, in 1926, on Belgian soil, commissioned by painter René Giette, to house his studio and private home.

Based on the architect's new rational theories, this is a narrow house on three levels, with strip windows and a large window at the level of the artist's studio, the building ending with a roof terrace-garden.

Great rigor in the choice of materials and in the simplicity of the design.

The house has managed to stand the test of time despite being abandoned for many years.

Threatened with destruction in 1963, during the construction of the Antwerp ring road, it was saved by a preservation committee.

Several successive restoration works were carried out from 1987, and the last one in 2021. These have given new life to the building, highlighting all its characteristics.

Building listed in Belgium since April 1978.

Listed as a World Heritage Site since 2016.
