Remarkable modernist villa designed by the architect Jan Albert De Bondt in 1927 for his client Léon Verbreyt, a wealthy textile industrialist.
Heavily inspired by the Amsterdam school.
Very elaborate brickwork gives relief and rhythm to this façade with its staggered volumes. Beautiful ironwork entrance door.
The many windows are all decorated with magnificent Art Deco stained glass windows with varied subjects, some are treated in grisaille, others are creations of the painter Albert Saverys. They are all in good condition.
The right bay has a high stained glass window that lights the stairwell.
The interior (which cannot be visited) is very neat, a magnificent staircase in exotic wood and precious marble floors. The furniture came from the famous De Coene house in Kortrijk.
Building protected since 1996.
