EDUARD VAN STEENBERGEN

Eduard Van Steenbergen, born in Antwerp on 1 August 1889, died in Berchem on 14 June 1952.

Mainly active in Antwerp and its surroundings, Van Steenbergen was a follower of the modernist style and favoured simplicity, even minimalism.

It was his architect father (Maarten) who taught him the trade but he perfected his skills at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.

After the Great War, he worked on his own account and also took care of regional planning, an important mission in these times of reconstruction.

In turn, he trained his son Edward and they worked together.
