Two houses built at the same time in 1923 by Louis Van Rijmenant, one for his client Josef De Vos and the other for his own use.
The part on the corner of the Koninklijkelaan is therefore that of his client, with its rotunda façade entirely pierced with vertical windows, still very classical in style.
The double-leaf entrance door is truly wedged between the neighbouring building and the round tower.
The architect's house has a very elaborate, busy façade, mixing classical elements such as the antique columns of the bel étage and purely Art Deco elements.
A façade full of symmetry and verticality thanks to the many pilasters that separate the three bays and frame the windows.
The steps and the double-leaf entrance door are also framed by elaborate pilasters.
Two symmetrical bow windows add another dimension.
The façade at No. 57 was transformed in the 2010s, the windows of the cellar kitchens under the bow windows were removed, and the façade stone covered with a painted coating.
The whole nevertheless presents a beautiful testimony to this typical Art Deco style.
