A building that contrasts greatly with the surrounding style of the Meir Avenue, this beautiful example of Art Deco architecture was built in 1933 by the architect Joseph Selis for the owners of the Coutellerie Orfèvrerie Tilquin.
Although listed in 1983, the store was completely transformed in 1993, the beautiful period furniture removed, the apartments devastated and the facade covered with panels.
In 2002/2004 an architect's office had the great idea of restoring the old-style store with some recovered furniture and others designed according to the original plans.
Today it remains a beautiful building in a fairly rigorous Art Deco style, consisting of a beautiful store on the ground floor with a front in black Swedish granite.
A façade in Brauvilliers stone (now covered with white plaster), separated in two in height by an imposing black granite mast which carries a flagpole.
This mast rests on a semi-circular console which overhangs the window and the entrance door and ends with an imposing very Art Deco pinnacle.
The beautiful entrance door still bears the original insignia.
The whole is in very good condition and today houses a lingerie store.
Building listed in 1983.
