Monumental Art Deco building, built by the shipowner Herbosch, designed by the architect Louis Hamaide in 1925.
Louis Hamaide built dozens of neoclassical and Art Nouveau houses in Antwerp.
This project was his last achievement, and the only one in Art Deco style.
All in natural stone, the seven-storey building is located on the corner of two streets, this part of the façade rises to the highest point and ends in an imposing sculpted triangular gable.
The corner itself is decorated at the bottom with a ship's prow.
A pilaster runs all the way to the pediment and gives the whole a great elegance.
The façades are pierced with regular windows separated by pilasters under a triangular lintel.
The name of the company Herbosch Buildings appears carved in the stone at the very top of the building.
The two portals, garages on one side and pedestrian entrance on the other, are surmounted by a semicircular arch sculpted with very Art Deco geometric shapes.
The symbol of Mercury surmounts the carriage entrance.
The whole was transformed into apartments at the end of the 90s, the balconies were added at that time.
