Although created in 1948, these two magnificent tiled wall frescoes deserve our attention. They were created by Raymond-Henri Chevallier (1900-1959), a French ceramic artist who created many major works for Boch Frères Keramis La Louvière, in the interwar years, the golden age of the factory.
Both paintings evoke the work of ceramics and are called one LA TERRE, the other LE FEU.
LA TERRE with its female character, describes the origin, the manufacturing and the factory in a style still inspired by Art Deco but already modernist.
LE FEU, with its male character, describes the firing part, the ovens, the intense heat.
In both works appear carried by the central characters two vases created by the artist. Nice wink…
These two murals are visible at the entrance and on the second floor.
The museum exhibits in its windows a very large number of vases, dishes and other remarkable Art Deco objects.
A visit to this museum is a must.
