Jean-Jules Eggericx, born in Brussels (Anderlecht) on 21 August 1884, died in Brussels (Uccle) on 22 April 1963
Like many of his colleagues, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels but left, finding the teaching too reactionary. He trained with Victor Horta, Jean Baptiste Dewin and Alban Chambon.
During the 14/18 war, he went into exile in England where he discovered garden cities. He returned convinced that this urban planning was the best way to respond to the housing crisis that followed the post-war period. He thus participated in many reconstruction projects, including, with colleagues, the vast double garden city, Floréal and Logis, in Watermael-Boisfort, which is still admirable today.
Later, he participated in the construction of the first apartment buildings in Brussels.
