HENRY LACOSTE

Henry Auguste Lacoste, born in Tournai on January 16, 1885, died in Brussels on April 28, 1968.

Undoubtedly the most original and atypical Belgian architect of his time.

The son of an artistic ironworker, he perpetuated this art through all his architectural projects.

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, then at the École nationale des beaux-arts in Paris. Deeply fascinated by ancient art, he participated in excavations in Greece and Syria before and after World War I. In 1923, he began a long academic career.

In the interwar years, Henry Lacoste built churches, international exhibition pavilions, and several private homes, all marked by his strong personality.
