FERNAND BRUNFAUT

Fernand Brunfaut, born in Anseremme (Dinant) on 7 July 1886, died in Brussels on 9 February 1972.

Brother of Gaston Brunfaut and father of Maxime Brunfaut, the three of them constitute the most important dynasty of Belgian architects.

Fernand was very involved in politics, a member of the Belgian Workers' Party, he was elected socialist deputy in 1925. A committed architect, he is particularly recognized for the law of 15 April 1949, known as the "Brunfaut Law", which established the National Housing Fund.

In Brussels (Molenbeek), Oupeye and Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont, a street bears his name.
